Miss Texas Margana Wood didn’t take home the Miss America crown, but she definitely scored a far greater win in everyone’s heart. Wood took aim at the Orange Overlord of Chaos, President Donald Trump, in answering a question about the Cheeto-In-Chief‘s weak response to the Charlottesville incident last month.
Wood, a University of Texas at Austin graduate where she earned a degree in Corporate Communications, entered the Q&A portion of the Miss America contest, answering an inquiry on whether or not Trump addressed the white supremacist brouhaha in Virginia. Wood’s answer came in under the allotted seconds she was given to answer, gaining raucous applause from the crowd in attendance.
“I think that the white supremacist issue, it was very obvious, that it was a terrorist attack. And I think that President Donald Trump should’ve made a statement earlier addressing the fact, and in making sure all Americans feel safe in this country. That is the number one issue right now,” Wood said.
You better say that, Margana.
Proving she’s more than just a pretty face, Wood runs on a platform she calls “You Belong,” and frequently supports efforts that challenge the issue of bullying and works alongside the Texas Cares for Children foundation as well. The 22-year-old Miss Texas came in as the fourth runner-up in the contest, but her work in the public eye seems far from done.
